Winter Fest brings free family fun to Kelowna
With a common goal of bringing families together in a festive, healthy and active way, the Landmark District, City of Kelowna, BGC Okanagan, and YMCA of Southern Interior have partnered to host the inaugural annual Family Winter Fest.
This free-to-all event, being held Saturday, Nov. 26 inside and outside of Parkinson Recreation Centre, will provide children and families with fun, interactive and inclusive holiday activities and entertainment.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Stober Foundation’s Tree of Hope light-up, the Landmark District is thrilled to help make this free family event possible the day following the iconic lighting of the tree.
“We are proud to be the presenting sponsor and to partner with the City of Kelowna and two local charities to bring this festive family event to our community, says Louise Pelletier, Director of Property Management for the Stober Group. “We recognize the positive impact these organizations make in developing active, healthy families in our community. We, along with the Stober Foundation, are passionate about working with those who share our values, help improve quality of life for others and build a foundation of a healthy and hopeful community.”
Family Winter Fest will take place from noon-4pm on Saturday, Nov. 26 and along with other local organizations and holiday crafters, will provide activities, games, entertainment, photos with Santa, food trucks, and so much more. Activities will take place both inside and outside Parkinson Recreation Centre, plus free access to the pool and fitness centre.
“Families will enjoy an action-packed afternoon made possible by activity station partners, sponsors and volunteers who are all pouring their energy into a great holiday event,” says the Organizing Committee. “Be sure to dress your children for both outdoor and indoor winter games and don’t forget their swimsuits for the pool and big smiles for their photo’s with Mr. Claus.”
