#BreakTheFake with Media Literacy Week

Have you ever been scrolling through your news feed and come across a post that makes you say – “That can’t be real…”. You sit there reading through the article and the more information you read, the more you start to believe the story, only to find out a week or two later that the whole thing was some wild, made up ploy to entice people. Unfortunately, this is becoming a trend that is increasing with the growth of our digital world. So what can we do to protect ourselves from all of this made-up noise?

MediaSmarts has brought back Canada’s favorite fictional commercial persona, the Canadian House Hippo to help educate people about fake news and how to Break the Fake!
