CapriCMW Golf4Kids Day a success
The 30th annual CapriCMW Golf4Kids Day, held on Aug. 11 throughout the Okanagan Valley, raised a total of $75,000 for BGC Okanagan.
“Thank you to all the sponsors and donors, with these funds we are able to provide a safe place of belonging, with positive role models for children, youth and families. A place where they can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life,” said Richelle Leckey, Community Engagement Coordinator at BGC Okanagan.
With the support of CapriCMW, sponsors, donors and golf courses the day was a success and the funds raised will help give Okanagan children, youth and families opportunities they may have never had through recreation programming offered by BGC Okanagan.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the annual Golf 4 Kids Day had to, once again, take a different form this year. Instead of a tournament, golfers at courses around the Okanagan Valley were encouraged to donate, while participating golf courses donated a portion of their green fees for the day to BGC Okanagan. As well, an online auction took place which included several stay and play experiences in the Okanagan and a WestJet gift of flight for two.
“BGC Okanagan’s services for local children and youth is a cause close to the hearts of all of us at CapriCMW Insurance. We are very proud to be the ongoing title sponsor of Golf4Kids Day and we are so grateful for the amazing support shown by our community for this year’s event. Thank you to all the donors, participating golf courses, sponsors and our amazing team members who made it a tremendous success,” said Andrew Kemp, President CapriCMW Insurance Services Ltd.
Participating golf courses included; Harvest Golf Club, Twin Lakes Golf, Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club, Black Mountain, Shadow Ridge, Kelowna Springs, Sunset Ranch, Kelowna Golf and Country Club, Mission Creek, Michaelbrook, Orchard Greens, Okanagan Golf, Two Eagles, Shannon Lake, Vernon Golf and Country Club, Hillview, Sumac, Summerland Golf Club, St. Andrews by the Lake, Fairview, Osoyoos Golf and Country Club and Skaha Meadows. Media sponsors including Castanet, PURE Country 105.7, AM 1150, Move 101.5 and 97.1 and Virgin Radio 99.9 helped spread the word about the Golf 4 Kids Day.
