June is National Indigenous History Month

Way’ and hello!

June is National Indigenous History Month. BGC Okanagan is committed to supporting Indigenous children, youth, and families and providing equitable, accessible, and culturally relevant services.

We take the time to honour the history and celebrate the strength and cultures, languages, foods, music and traditions of Indigenous people across Canada; First Nations, Métis and Inuit.

Across the Okanagan Valley, many celebratory events will happen throughout the month as well as on June 21, 2021, National Indigenous Peoples Day. Many events are open to the public and are created to share Indigenous culture and history. It is a very exciting time of year where we can experience traditions, listen to stories and take part in celebrations.

We encourage Club participants and the community to explore the opportunities to learn, connect and grow! Ask your Club staff how your child can enter the BGC Okanagan National Indigenous Peoples Day colouring contest.

Lim’lm’t and thank you!
